Faith & AI: wise, not afraid

Scripture does not mention computers, but it says a lot about truth, wisdom, honesty and what it means to be human. That is exactly what AI tests.

Machines can be fast and useful. Love, conscience, faith and a soul are not in the chip.
Four studies

What the Bible says to an AI world

1. Made in His image

So God created man in his own image...Genesis 1:27 (KJV)

Machines are made in our image, from our words. We are made in God's. Our worth does not come from being smarter than a computer.

2. Test everything

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV)

AI can be confidently wrong. Fake verses, fake quotes, fake photos. A follower of Jesus checks before sharing.

3. Honest work

Lie not one to another...Colossians 3:9 (KJV)

Turning in AI work as your own is a lie, even if no one catches it. Using AI openly, by the rules, is fine.

4. Wisdom over knowledge

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)

AI has a lot of information. Wisdom (knowing what is right and choosing it) is still a human calling, and a gift from God.

Use it wisely

The CHECK habit

Five letters for every time you use AI. We practice them in every class until they are automatic.

C: Check the source

Does a real, trusted source say the same thing? Look up the verse, the fact, the quote.

H: Hold back personal info

No full names, addresses, school, photos, passwords, or other people's private stories, including prayer requests.

E: Examine the motive

Is this trying to make me angry, scared or rushed? Scams and fakes push emotions so you skip thinking.

C: Credit honestly

If AI helped with your work, say so, and follow your teacher's or employer's rules.

K: Keep a trusted adult in the loop

Anything weird, scary or too good to be true, tell a parent, leader or pastor. AI is not a counselor.

Is this verse real?"Yes! It is in Proverbs 32."Proverbs has 31 chapters.
AI tools can "hallucinate": state something false with total confidence. Always check the source.
For families

Our family AI covenant

Go through it together at the dinner table. Check off each line you agree on as a family, then print it and put it on the fridge.

Make it yours: cross out what does not fit your family and add your own lines. The conversation matters more than the list.

More for parents

  • We never put full names, addresses, school names, photos or passwords into an AI tool
  • We check facts from AI against a real source before we share them
  • Schoolwork is our own; if AI helped, we say so and follow the teacher's rules
  • AI is not a counselor; when something is heavy, we talk to a real person
  • Under 13: AI tools only with a parent, never our own account
  • We have a family safe word for any call asking for money or help
  • We do not create fake pictures, voices or messages of real people
  • Devices rest at bedtime and at the dinner table
  • We ask: does this honor God and respect people?
